Job Opportunities – Prepare yourself for a vocational education

Vocational education is preparation for skilled jobs, that is preparation based on manual and practical activities. The learner directly participates and develops expertise in a particular set of techniques or technology and is sometimes referred to as technical education.

In the Philippines, vocational/technical schools and their curricula are accredited and accredited by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA). TESDA schools offer a short course of 3 months and 2 years. Upon graduation, students take a licensing exam from TESDA to obtain a certificate or diploma. Some of the courses for this purpose are Automotive Technology, Electronic Technology, Nursing Assistant, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Computer Technology, and Drafting. Short courses may choose from housekeeping, cooking, food and beverage, welding, etc. These pre-professional courses associated with the activities of the lower social classes. But not at the present time, as vocational education has been developed and many potential jobs and opportunities have opened up both locally and abroad.

Nowadays, we are going through a crisis and we are fighting for it. Many businesses have closed due to the recession. Thousands of people have lost their jobs. Even OFWs are affected. Vocational training and education was the solution for them to start a new career. The government has issued a scholarship program for out-of-school youth and for students who cannot continue their university studies. This scholarship has been a requirement of many parents. Many believe that diploma and certificate from short courses can be used for advantages and competencies.

As a matter of fact, if you were to attempt a job search online, you would notice that there is an extensive list of skilled job vacancies on certain job sites. Countries like Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and Middle Eastern countries are in great demand for skilled workers. The problem is that most skilled workers cannot afford the high recruitment fees and paperwork processing of staffing agencies. Good news, there are a few that offer a salary deduction. The other thing is that you can search for a job site that gives you information about employers, and through it you can apply directly.

Preparing yourself for skilled worker opportunities means a better chance of getting a rewarding, well-paying job that you can be proud of.
